Lake Louise, Beavertails, and Crazy Rain

Another great day here in the mountains.  Put some more mileage on the vehicle, driving to Lake Louise and back to Canmore and then back to Banff.

Here in Alberta (and maybe where you live, too?) we have these little tunnels along the highway so that the wildlife can cross over to the other side of the road safely.

This is quite the view for while you’re having lunch, hey?  The beautiful Fairmont Lake Louise.

IMG_1069I think the kids like these type of poses, that way they don’t have to smile for a million minutes while I figure out the settings on my camera.

IMG_1100 IMG_0620And as per our normal Banff tradition, we had to stop at Beavertails.  (Deep fried dough, with butter, cinnamon, and sugar on top.  Yum!

IMG_1145After stupper, we headed back into Banff and took a dip in the Upper Banff Hot Springs.  It was pretty hot.

IMG_0625And, as we were walking back to our car, we saw it.  A HUGE lightning bolt and heard the loudest clap of thunder!  We gladly got into the truck, took a little drive, looking for some wildlife.  Sadly, we didn’t see any.  And then the rain started.  Oh, the rain!  And the thunderstorm!  It was quite the drive home.  Isabella LOVED the storm, Ben and Layla were pretty much…well, let’s just say “really scared.”  Please note: this photo does NOT do the storm justice.  It was NUTS!  Dark and stormy overhead, with a beautiful golden glow from the sunset behind us.  Nature is amazing!  I love it!
